Apple Tree
In the dappled sunshine
Underneath an appletree
There is a little world
Where lives a band of three.
At times, they are pirates
So wicked and so mean
Sailing their mighty ship
On a sea of grassy green.
Other times, they’re cowboys
Decked out in boots and hats
Is that cows they’re herding
Or is it maybe cats?!
Sometimes they’re loving mothers
Pushing dolls in the swings
“Have you heard about my friend”
Is the song they sing.
Often, they’re “big brothers”
As busy as can be
What all they are doing
Is a mystery to me!
And so the days go by
Young, wild, and carefree
In that lovely little world
Underneath the apple tree.
