Going Home
If you glanced back in time, to a few weeks before,
You'd hear the sewing machine buzz and the serger roar.
The clothes being laundered, all stains scrubbed away
Lists being written, MUST DO TODAY.
Suitcases dug out from their deep hiding place,
To be filled to the brim, take this just in case.
You'd hear talk of plans, of questions being asked,
Will we go to the zoo, will the plane go fast?
Can I sit by the window, will we take the cat?
But who will feed him, where will he sleep at?
I'll miss all my toys and my bicycle too,
Will grandfather have things for me to do?
At last the day dawns, with the sun shining bright,
Everyone eager to go catch their flight.
The car gets packed up, everything in its place,
Children crawl in the car, smiles fixed on each face.
Head off to the airport, a few stops on the way,
Rest stops and train museum to brighten the day.
We've arrived to the airport, will our flights be delayed?
Trust in the Lord and don't be afraid.
Soar through the air with the fragrance of food
From the people ahead, I hope it was good.
Travel worn and weary, we finally touch down
To meet our dear family in Wichita town.
